COLUMBUS — Ohio motorists are paying almost 50 cents a gallon more for gasoline than they were a month ago following another 8-cent jump in pump prices over the past week.

The latest survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and Wright Express puts the state's average price for regular-grade gas at about $3.55 a gallon, up from $3.47 last Monday.

One month ago the statewide average was $3.06. Last year at this time regular cost $2.73, on average, at stations around Ohio.

Turmoil in the Middle East has sent fuel prices surging this winter. Ohio gas prices are the highest they've been since the fall of 2008.
