COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio gas prices have jumped 12 cents for the second week in a row thanks to soaring oil prices.

A survey from auto club AAA, the Oil Price Information Service and Wright Express puts the statewide average price for regular-grade gasoline at $3.79 a gallon, compared to $3.67 last Monday.

One month ago Ohio motorists were paying an average of $3.56 for regular. Last year at this time the state average was $2.82 per gallon.

Gas prices have taken off as oil prices have surged above $112 a barrel on jitters about problems in Libya, Nigeria and other major oil suppliers.

One analyst says gas costs could soon be in record territory. Ohio’s record average price is $4.05, set in July 2008.
