Two local businesses have received Small Business Innovation Research grants from the U.S. Department of Energy.
Integrated Sensors LLC of Ottawa Hills will receive $300,000 to develop plasma panel-based radiation-detection systems.
Xunlight 26 Solar LLC of Toledo, a subsidiary of Xunlight Corp., will receive $100,000 for its thin-film coating process used for cadmium telluride solar cells. Xunlight’s lightweight coating is translucent, and the company is developing technology that would allow glass windows to generate solar power.
