New solar power firm to create 330 jobs in Napoleon
7/6/2011NAPOLEON — Isofoton, a Spanish company that is one of Europe’s largest producers of solar power cells, plans to invest $16.4 million to open a manufacturing facility in Napoleon that is expected to create 330 jobs within three years.
The Ohio Department of Development, which announced Isofoton’s project Wednesday, plans to offer the company $15.8 million in incentives to assist with the establishment of the Henry County facility.
Isofoton, which has headquarters in Madrid and Malaga, Spain, said its Napoleon plant will include a a 50-megawatt crystalline silicon solar module assembly line, and the company plans to ramp up to a 100-megawatt assembly line. Initially it will start with 121 jobs then expand to 330 within three years.
American Municipal Power Inc., will purchase up to 200 megawatts of solar panels over five years from the company’s Napoleon plant. The new plant also will supply 49.9 megawatts of panels for a project in Appalachia.
