The BP-Husky Oil Toledo refinery in Oregon has begun scheduled maintenance Thursday, according to the Toledo Division of Environmental Services.

An isocracker was expected to be taken offline Thursday and remain idle for 38 days, according to a person who declined to be identified.

Isocrackers convert heavy oil into lighter fuels such as high-octane gasoline or high-grade fuel oil through the catalytic addition of hydrogen. The refinery has a capacity of 160,000 barrels a day and employs about 500 workers.
