The recently renovated John F. Savage Arena at the University of Toledo has been awarded Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The arena, which opened as Centennial Hall in 1976, was renovated and the Sullivan Complex was added in 2008 as part of UT's Champions Campaign.

The project included renovation of the playing arena as well as new locker rooms, a 3,000- square-foot training room, and a 6,000-square-foot weight room. The certification, the second-highest level, was recognized during a ceremony Tuesday.
