Toledo Edison has restored power to all of the 6,000 utility customers left without power today when a transformer failed in the area of Talmadge Road and Sylvania Avenue, said Debbie Paul, an area manager for the utility.

The transformer at the utility’s Talmadge substation failed about 6 a.m. By about 11 a.m., utility crews had restored power to about 3,500 of the affected customers by switching their electrical loads to other circuits, Ms. Paul said. Power to the remaining 2,500 customers was restored by 2:02 p.m., including to Westfield Franklin Park mall, she said.

The spokesman did not say what caused the transformer failure.
