Columbia Gas rate to rise 2¢ in August

Columbia Gas of Ohio Inc. said Monday its customer rate for natural gas will rise 2 cents in August to 45 cents per 100 cubic feet. A year ago, the August rate was 62 cents per 100 cubic feet.

The August rate is based on the latest natural-gas closing price of 30.1 cents on the New York Mercantile Exchange, plus 15.3 cents for a state-regulated service charge. The utility said the average customer bill in August will be $30,40.
