Owens Corning announced on Tuesday that the new furnace at its glass reinforcements facility in Gous-Khroustalny, Russia, is operational.

The furnace doubles the capacity at the plant, which is about 140 miles east of Moscow. It makes glass fiber reinforcements for composite systems and building materials.

The company said it decided two years ago to increase production capacity at the plant to serve Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States, a regional organization of former Soviet republics.
