Columbia Gas of Ohio Inc. will charge customers 50 cents per hundred cubic feet of natural gas this month, which marks the lowest rate for November since 2001. The rate is based on the New York Mercantile Exchange’s closing price of 35 cents per hundred cubic feet plus 15 cents for a state-approved service fee.

A year ago, the gas utility’s November rate was 54 cents per hundred cubic feet. Columbia Gas said that with the new rate the average residential bill in November will be $54.16.
