Columbia Gas will hold meeting on pipe project

A Columbia Gas project to replace about 5½ miles of natural gas pipes in central and West Toledo will be the subject of a 6 p.m. public meeting today at St. Francis de Sales High School, 2323 W. Bancroft St.

The $1.7 million project to replace steel pipe with “specially designed plastic” pipe will affect 407 gas customers in an area bound roughly by Dorr and Bancroft streets, Upton Avenue, and Parkside Boulevard. Construction is scheduled to start later this month.

Customers with indoor gas meters will receive new outdoor meters at no charge.
