Zingerman's to halt Toledo deliveries

BLADE STAFF

Zingerman's Bakehouse in Ann Arbor will no longer deliver bread and pastry to the Toledo area after July 27 because of the high cost of fuel.

After six years of delivering breads and pastries to northern Ohio including The Andersons, Churchill's, and other specialty stores, the cost of diesel fuel makes it impossible to continue the drive, the company announced yesterday.

For those consumers willing to drive to Ann Arbor, orders for fresh loaves of bread, brownies, cakes, and more will be taken at 734-761-2095. Orders for bread must be placed 24 hours in advance by noon. Orders for pastry and some specialty breads such as bagels and pretzels must be placed 48 hours in advance by noon. But if the item is available in stock, clerks will set it aside. The Bakehouse is at 3711 Plaza Dr. off exit 177 (State Street) of I-94. The shop is tucked away in a little industrial district.

Loaves can also be shipped to your door by placing an order at www.zingermans.com.
