New eatery to open downtown

Downtown Toledo's restaurant scene is about to grow a bit as a new place opens in a location where a pair of dining establishments have closed in recent years.

Our Brothers Place will open at 4 p.m. Friday at 233 North Huron St., which is the former location of Sidelines and Jackson's Lounge and Grille. It will be owned and operated by business partners Glenn and Mike Johnson -- who are brothers -- and their brother-in-law Al Garmon.

They are operating as Brothers Entertainment and also are bringing rhythm and blues/smooth jazz performers Kem and Alex Bugnon to the Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle Friday night.

Glenn Johnson said Our Brothers Place will serve American cuisine that will be similar to sports bar food, but the menu will expand as the restaurant grows. He said the restaurant will include some live music, with an emphasis on rhythm and blues and jazz.

The Johnsons are from St. Louis and Mr. Harmon is from Toledo. Glenn Johnson said he has owned other restaurants and he believes Our Brothers Place can succeed downtown at a location where two other spots have closed.

The restaurant will be open nightly, but not for lunch.

He said he is reaching out to "kind of a niche market" that is underserved in Toledo. "We're catering to the 30-and- older group that enjoys that type of entertainment," he said.
