Cake decorating contest scheduled

Baking skills on display at Way Public Library

Way Public Library is holding summer cake decorating contests where contestants check out a cake pan from the Baker’s Way pan collection at the library and submit a photo of their decorated cake.

Cakes can be baked and decorated anytime from now until July 7. Contestants are asked to submit 5 by 7 color photos of their decorated cake that will be on display in the library from July 9 to July 26. Cakes can be for birthdays, graduations, Memorial Day, Father’s Day, summer, or the Fourth of July. Patrons can vote for their favorite cakes and prizes will be awarded for adult, family, teen, and youth categories.

There will also be a special judges choice award where a panel of guest judges will choose winners. Winners will be announced at a 2 p.m. reception July 28 at the library. The library’s Baker’s Way collection has about 100 pans.

Maumee physics teacher discusses climate change

At 7 p.m. Tuesday the library will host a presentation on climate change.

The League of Women Voters of the Perrysburg Area is putting on the program that will feature Sam Evans, a Perrysburg resident and physics teacher at Maumee High School. He will talk about what climate change is, what is causing it, how it effects us, how it could later effect us, and what we can do about climate change. The program is free.
