The Garden Calendar: 9-23

9/23/2012

The Fall Plant Sale at Owens Community College will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday next to the greenhouse (near the entrance to the Math/Science Center). A wide selection of shrubs, perennials, ornamental grasses, rare and unusual trees, and more will be sold by students in the Landscape and Turfgrass Crew Club.

Shrubs include the Purple Beauty Berry, Blue False Spirea, Dwarf Oakleaf Hydrangea, Fine Wine Weigela, and many others. More than 20 varieties of trees and evergreens, many of which are native to the area, include Japanese Stripped-bark Maple, the Kwanzan Cherry, and the Colorado Spruce. A complete listing of the plants and their prices is at owens.edu/direct/plantsale.pdf.

Proceeds support the organization's participation in the PLANET (Professional Landcare Network) Student Career Days, a national horticultural and landscape competition.

Owens is on Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township. Information: 567-661-7623.
