Farr event raises $350,000
12/18/2008The Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic Presented by Kroger golf tournament has distributed $350,000 to 15 northwest Ohio children s charities.
The money is from the proceeds of this year s event.
We are pleased that the 2008 tournament was so successful in raising money for worthy charities in northwest Ohio, Mike Thaman, the chairman and CEO of Owens Corning, said during the tournament s annual charity luncheon at OC headquarters in Toledo this week.
As the need in our area continues to grow, the support provided by organizations like the Jamie Farr is even more critical, said Steven L. Mickus, president and chief executive of Mercy Health Partners.
As a mission-based organization committed to helping the under-served, Mercy Health Partners is honored to be a partner with the tournament in these efforts.

Ronald McDonald House of Northwest Ohio, $45,000; Anne Grady Center, $25,000; Assistance Dogs of America, $10,000; Bittersweet Farms, $25,000; East Toledo Family Center, $25,000; Kids Unlimited, $25,000; Kinship Navigator (Area Office on Aging), $25,000; Lourdes College, $25,000; Miracle League of Northwest Ohio, $10,000; Serenity Farms, $25,000; Sophia Counseling Center, $25,000; Toledo/Northwest Ohio Food Bank, $25,000; Toledo Seagate Food Bank, $25,000; Wood County Gift Exchange, $10,000.
Alsos benefiting were JFOCC Scholarship Fund of the Toledo Community Foundation, $25,000; JFOCC Scholarship Fund; Arts Commission of Greater Toledo; Central City Ministry; Easter Seals of Northern Ohio; Gabby s Ladder; Girl Scouts of America; Hospice of Northwest Ohio; Mobile Meals of Toledo; Northwest Ohio Hemophilia Foundation; Rusty s House; YWCA of Greater Toledo.
Since its 1984 inception, the tournament has raised more than $6 million donated to more than 120 charities.
