SYLVANIA - Bill Williamson of Cincinnati, the leader after one round, won a sudden-death playoff yesterday at Sylvania Country Club to capture the 2009 Ohio Mid-Amateur Championship.

Williamson scored par on the first playoff hole, the par-3 10th, to beat Ben Cavey of Wadsworth and Mark Thomas of Jackson Township, winning his first Ohio Golf Association event and earning a berth in the Ohio Amateur on July 13-17 at Moraine Country Club in Dayton. The three finished regulation play at 1-under-par 143.

The top Toledo finisher was Alan Fadel, a former Ohio Amateur and Mid-Amateur champion, who trailed by one shot after a first-round 71 but slipped to a 78 yesterday and tied for 10th place.

Judd Silverman of Toledo tied for 15th after rounds of 76-74 for a 6-over 150 total. Timothy Condon of Oregon and Toledo's Martin Gallagher also posted top-30 finishes, tying for 27th at 8-over 152.
