    Inverness has hosted the U.S. Open four times, the PGA Championship two times and is preparing for its second U.S. Senior Open. The 1973 U.S. Amateur was held at Inverness, as was the 2009 NCAA championships which was won by Texas A&M, while Matt Hill of North Carolina State took the individual crown.
