Bell scores 20 points as Notre Dame wins

Shayla Bell scored 20 points and Stephanie Hunter added 13 as Notre Dame defeated Bowsher 59-51 in girls basketball last night.

Jazlyn Davis and Kamesha Hairston paced the Rebels with 14 and 13 points, respectively.

Free throws made the difference. The Eagles (2-0) didn't shoot that well at the line, but had more chances as Bowsher got in early foul trouble, and made 19 of 34. The Rebels made just nine of 22.

CENTRAL 87, WAITE 33

Thirteen players got on the score sheet for the Irish in their home and season opener.

Kelly Helvey led the way for the Irish with 13 points while Sonya Coleman added 12. Crystal Dixon paced the Indians with 14.

START 52, WOODWARD 26

Kaishia Holder scored 20 points and Brooke Walker 10 for the Spartans.

Ebony Jones was high for Woodward with 15 points.

ROGERS 63, LIBBEY 53

Libbey's Mattie Mays scored 25 points, including 15 from 3-point range, and Erica Harthorne added 15, but the Rams had four girls in double figures to win with balance.

Ashley Ellis paced Rogers with 18 points, Nicole Burford and Gina Morton added 12 each and Candace Brown chipped in with 11.

ST. URSULA 82, SCOTT 76

Andrea Romano hit one of two free throws to tie the score at 72 in regulation, then St. Ursula won in overtime.

Natalie Waldon led the Arrows (3-1) with 26 points and Ashley Burgin had 21. Romano had 10.

Taria Blanchard had 22 for Scott and Krystal Suddeth added 14.
