Northern Lakes: Bowling Green knocks off Northview 52-51
12/9/2000BOWLING GREEN - Up by 11 at the half, Bowling Green had to hold off a late Northview rally with sharp free throw shooting in a 52-51 victory last night.
The Bobcats led by 10 with 4:30 left before the Wildcats mounted an 8-0 run. But BG's Kalin Holland came up with a defensive rebound on Northview's attempt to tie with 25 seconds to go.
Bowling Green converted on 20 of 32 free throw attempts, while the Wildcats managed just 7 of 11. The Bobcats made six treys and just seven 2-pointers.
Bowling Green (2-1, 1-0) was led by Tyler Meyer with 15 points, Chris Hanna with 14 and Holland with 10.
Northview (0-2, 0-1) was paced by Steve Horner's 19 points.
PERRYSBURG 59, SOUTHVIEW 51
The Jackets jumped to a 13-5 first-quarter lead and held on.
Perrysburg (2-0, 1-0) placed four in double figures as Burke Badenhop scored 16, Matt Mefford 14, Tony Ottomanelli 11 and Hal Munger 10.
Southview (0-2, 0-1) got 11 points from Blake Gillespie and 10 each from Matt Rheinecker and Nate Smith.
Southview outrebounded Perrysburg 35-25, but committed 17 turnovers.
MAUMEE 44, SPRINGFIELD 31
Eric Chapman scored 16 points and Sean DeWitte added 12 as Maumee won a defensive battle.
Matt Kelly and A.J. Horen each scored 10 for Springfield.
Maumee (2-0, 1-0) outrebounded Springfield (0-2, 0-1) by a 24-16 count and hit 14 of 27 shots from the field - five of them treys, and three of those by Chapman.
Kelly had three treys for Springfield.
Maumee outscored Springfield from the foul line 11-1.
ANTHONY WAYNE 51, ROSSFORD 28
Anthony Wayne outscored Rossford 24-10 in the final quarter when it hit 9 of 13 foul shots as the Bulldogs tried to catch up.
No player in the game hit double figures.
But nine Generals scored as Tyler Saneholtz had nine, Taylor Jaskolski eight and Jeff Telmanik, Mike Buckenmeyer and Keith Mikes had seven each.
Darren Paige led Rossford with eight points.
Anthony Wayne (1-1, 1-0) hit 16 of 23 from the line for the game while Rossford (1-2, 0-1) went 4 for 7.
