Girls basketball roundup: St. Ursula falls to Magnificat

St. Ursula led visiting Rocky River Mangificat 21-14 at the half yesterday, but couldn't hold on and dropped a 42-37 decision to the perennial state power.

Magnificat (13-2) hit 15 of 27 foul shots to 7 of 12 for St. Ursula, which outrebounded Magnificat 26-20.

Andrea Romano led St. Ursula (7-8) with 14 points.


SCOTT 66, DAYTON PATTERSON 60

DAYTON - The Bulldogs had four players in double figures in a game that was tied until the final minute.

Crystal Sudduth had 14 points, Tomesha Jackson 14 and Taria Blanchard and Samia Dixon 11 apiece for Scott (6-5).

Dayton Patterson fell to 8-5.


START 59, SPRINGFIELD 35

Kaishia Holder scored 17 points as 10 players scored for Start, which led 39-17 at the half.

Heather Liber and Brittany Barhitz each scored seven for Springfield.


NORTHVIEW 63, HOPEWELL-LOUDON 41

BASCOM - Sarah Johnson scored 25 points and Natalie Bennett added 19 as Northview ran its record to 11-1.

Kara Johnson led Hopewell-Loudon with 14.

Northview canned 19 of 24 foul shots, while Hopewell-Loudon hit 5 of 6.


PERRYSBURG 57, WHITMER 42

Perrysburg jumped to a 20-10 lead after one quarter, and got 18 points from Jenny Langevin, 17 from Melissa Wagner and 14 from Kelly Crain.

Danielle Hinz scored nine for Whitmer.


MAUMEE 51, BOWLING GREEN 38

Maumee blanked Bowling Green 8-0 in the second quarter for a 25-8 halftime lead, then protected the lead at the foul line.

Reve Kerkulah led Maumee (5-9, 4-4 NLL) with 12 points and Shannon Kubicek added 11.

Bowling Green fell to 3-10, 2-5.


EASTWOOD 54, OTSEGO 35

TONTOGANY - Lindsay Madaras scored 13 and Stacey Weiland added 11 for Eastwood (12-2, 8-0 SLL).

Andrea Schoup had eight for Otsego (5-8, 2-6).


TINORA 52, MONTPELIER 47

DEFIANCE - The Rams outscored Montpelier 17-6 in the final quarter.

Jessi Lymanstall led three players in double figures for Tinora (3-9) with 16 points.

Kayla Richmond scored 15 points to lead the Locos (8-4).


TOLEDO CHRISTIAN 71, NORTHWOOD 60

Ashley Futrell scored 31 points and Laura Markwood added 20 for Toledo Christian, which dominated the first quarter 22-11 and the third 26-5.

Ashley Mathewson added 11 points for the Eagles in the Toledo Area Athletic Conference victory. Emily Reardon led the Rangers with 14 points, while Alicia St. Johns and Brandy Hollabaugh added 10 points apiece.


OAK HARBOR 62, HURON 51

OAK HARBOR - Mary Missig led Oak Harbor (9-6, 7-3 SBC) with a game-high 17 points.
