Northern Lakes roundup: Generals prevail in overtime

Southview's failure at the free throw line at the end of regulation helped Anthony Wayne send the game into overtime where the Generals' success at the line led to a 51-45 home victory last night.

The Cougars led 39-34 with just under a minute remaining, but hit just one of four free throws. Then Jeff Telmanik's layup tied it at 40 and sent the game to the extra period.

Anthony Wayne finished strong at the line, hitting 4 of 6 in the extra quarter.

Overall, the Generals were 16 of 22 at the line and the Cougars hit 7 of 12.

Telmanik paced Anthony Wayne (10-7, 8-3) with 18 points and Taylor Jaskolski added 12.

Southview (4-12, 3-8) was led by Marcus Carr (13 points), Nate Smith (12) and Matt Rheinecker (11).

Perrsyburg 68, Springfield 37

The Yellow Jackets were 10-of-13 from the field in the third quarter as they went on a 14-4 run and then held the visiting Blue Devils scoreless over the last 11 minutes.

Perrysburg led by just five at the half, but did not allow Springfield to score a point in the final quarter.

Burke Badenhop led the Yellow Jackets with 19 points, while Hal Munger added 12. Tony Ottomanelli, who scored his 1,000th career point, finished with 11.

Ryan Winkleman grabbed 11 rebounds for Perrysburg (13-4, 9-2).

Just five Springfield (2-13, 2-9) players scored, led by Scott McAfee's 17.

Rossford 52, Bowling Green 44

BOWLING GREEN - Rossford outscored Bowling Green 11-7 in the fourth quarter, then 11-3 in overtime.

Kyle Ingraham led Rossford (5-12, 2-9) with 24 points - four 2s, four 3s and four foul shots. He scored seven points in overtime.

Darren Paige added 17 for Rossford and Cody Winstead sent the game into overtime by converting one of two free throws.

Bowling Green (6-10, 4-7) got 14 points from Kalin Holland and 12 from Andy Rappold.

Northview 54, Maumee 37

The Wildcats led 20-12 at the half and never trailed in the road rout.

Steve Horner scored a game-high 19 points for the NLL-leading Wildcats (15-2, 10-1) and Charles Wynn chipped in with 16.

Eric Chapman tallied 12 points for Maumee (10-7, 6-5).
