City League prep football: St. John's beats Scott

Scott compiled 245 yards while holding St. John's Jesuit to just 78, but special-teams play made the difference yesterday as the visiting Titans claimed a 22-14 City League victory.

St. John's (4-5, 3-2) prospered on an 82-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by Ben Irvin that got the scoring started in the first quarter and on a 45-yard punt return for a TD by Nick Stack in the second.

Nathan Parseghian added field goals of 31, 21 and 21 yards for the Titans, who led 19-6 at the half.

Willis Barringer, who rushed for 102 yards on 17 carries, scored on a 30-yard run for the Bulldogs (3-5, 3-2). Jamell Baldwin scored on a five-yard run and ran in the conversion after Barringer's score.

Ozzie Williams scored three touchdowns and Mike Menchaca had a hand in two more to pace Bowsher.

Williams scored on runs of 4, 14 and 39 yards. Menchaca tossed a 17-yard pass to Jeff Hartwig and ran nine yards for another score.

Rico Rodriguez had two TD passes for Woodward - 20 yards to Scotti Thompson and 71 to Vince Butler. The Bears also scored on an 80-yard kick return by Terrell Carey.

LAKEWOOD, Ohio - The Panthers' Edwin Hood rushed for 136 yards and scored on runs of 23, 22 and 2 yards.

But Raishaun Stover rushed for 222 yards and scored all six of the Eagles' touchdowns. Whitmer (2-7) managed 247 yards but St. Edward (9-0) totaled 450.
