NWOAL roundup: Evergreen topples Delta to push its record to 6-0

DELTA - Brian Baker led a balanced attack with 16 points as Evergreen routed Delta 72-42 last night.

Doc Skeldon and Matt Brown had 13 each for the Vikings (6-0, 3-0). Dan Stong had 12 and Jason Rameriz added 10.

Ryan Parsons paced Delta (1-7, 0-3) with 12. Chaz Abbott scored 11.

BRYAN - The Golden Bears' proficiency at the free throw line spelled defeat for the Bulldogs.

Bryan (5-1) made 23 of 29 foul shots in the game, including 17 of 20 in the fourth quarter.

Nate Ward of the Golden Bears was the game's high scorer with 29 points, as he drained 11 of 12 field goal attempts. Chris Carpenter added 20 points and Doug Carpenter 17 for Bryan.

Josh Knipp pumped in 25 points for Defiance (3-3), with B.J. Esarey contributing 15.

SWANTON - The Tigers shot 38 percent from the field and the Bulldogs made just 30 percent.

Greg Badenhop scored a game-high 25 points for Liberty Center (5-1), which also got 19 points from Tim Myers and 10 from C.J. Langenhop.

Zach Budas tallied 12 points and Rodger Shingledecker added 11 for Swanton (1-5).

ARCHBOLD - Dan Borcherdt scored 13 points and D.J. Selgo 10 for the Blue Streaks, who improved to 5-1.

Terry Ross led Fairview (1-6) with eight points.

It was a tough shooting night for both teams, with the Blue Streaks making only 16 of 48 shots and the Apaches connecting on 18 of 46. Turnovers were also troublesome, with Archbold commiting 17 and Fairview 23.

MONTPELIER - Jake Wood paced Wauseon (1-5, 1-2) with 17 points. Troy Hoste added 14 and Paul Harmon had 10.

Brook Mealer scored the game-winning basket with 10 seconds left.

John Buldas scored 28 for Montpelier (4-3, 1-1). Ty Richmond tallied 11.
