Great Lakes: Coffman tops Findlay in a 42-36 shootout

DUBLIN, Ohio - Findlay gave highly rated Dublin Coffman a battle last night, but in the end the Trojans couldn't stop the Shamrocks and quarterback Brady Quinn in a 42-36 defeat.

Quinn, who has verbally committed to Notre Dame, threw five touchdown passes.

Quinn completed 24 of 41 passes for a school-record 436 yards. He was intercepted three times.

Findlay quarterback Kyle Johann was also outstanding, connecting on 30 of 54 attempts for 297 yards with two interceptions.

Chris Gatton scored the game-winner for the Shamrocks from 1 yard out with 48 seconds to play.

Coffman covered 81 yards in 7 plays on the final drive. The key play in the drive was a 69-yard pass from Quinn to Chinedum Ndukwe on a third-and-25 situation to move the ball to the 9-yard line. Ndukwe had a career-best performance with 10 receptions for 212 yards.

The Trojans' Andy Kukay rushed for three touchdowns on runs of 8, 5, and 7 yards.

James Addington knocked home three field goals for Findlay from 38, 24 and 40 yards out.

MANSFIELD, Ohio - Trevor Dehn ran one yard for a touchdown and passed 24 yards to Ryan Baker for another in Sandusky's loss.

Mansfield's Jamario O'Neal scored on a 59-yard pass from Andrew Molyet and ran 50 yards for another to pace Mansfield.

Mansfield outgained Sandusky 245 to 122 yards in rushing and 177 to 167 in the air.

FOSTORIA - Fostoria took advantage of four Madison fumbles to win.

Fostoria scored on a three-yard run by Lee Vitte, a 10-yard run by Roy Findley and a two-yard run by Mike Haase.
