MONTPELIER - Joe Salazar had a hand in three touchdowns as Montpelier built a 21-0 lead after one quarter, but Liberty Center wound up with a 41-35 victory by outscoring the Locomotives 16-0 in the fourth quarter last night.
Curt Silveus led Liberty Center with 121 yards on 19 carries and scored TDs on an eight-yard run and an 80-yard punt return.
Rodney Ponton had 89 yards on 23 rushes for Liberty Center and scored on runs of 3, 1 and 2 yards.
After Salazar hit David Sharps for 48 yards and B.J. Odgen for 24 yards for scores, he ran three yards for another first-quarter TD.
He added a 37-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and wound up with 70 yards rushing on 11 carries and 157 yards passing by completing 8 of 17.
BRYAN - Quarterback Trevor Fruth (6-of-10 for 96 yards) threw a 64-yard touchdown pass to Nick Cameron to open the scoring and Phil Baden scored on a four-yard run with 1:30 remaining to lead Archbold (2-0).
Adam Schultz scored on a five-yard run for Bryan (0-2), which lost two fumbles and gave up two interceptions. The Golden Bears (196 yards passing, 41 rushing) had 237 total yards to Archbold's 200 (96 passing, 104 rushing).
SWANTON - Patrick Henry rolled up 303 yards rushing while holding Swanton to minus-nine.
Chris Tietje paced the Patriots with four touchdowns on runs of 1, 29, 8 and 12 yards. He had 78 yards on 15 carries.
Matt Powell had 111 yards on 14 carries and scored on a 14-yard run and a 65-yard kick return.
Patrick Henry added 97 passing yards while Swanton gained 82 in the air.
NAPOLEON - Ryan Funchion hit 13 of 20 passes for 125 yards and one touchdown to pace Napoleon.
Chad Miller grabbed the 29-yard TD toss and had four receptions for 65 yards.
Wauseon's Craig Holman hit 13 of 26 passes for 131 yards and a 10-yard TD pass to Doug Shaw who had six receptions for 91 yards.
METAMORA - Nate Kmic scored on three long runs for Delta - 96, 85 and 70 yards.
Brent Simon tossed a pair of TD passes for Evergreen.
