NWOAL roundup: Archbold slips past Fairview

SHERWOOD - Dusty Bergman threw for 314 yards and three touchdowns for Fairview, but Trevor Fruth ran for two TDs and threw for another as visiting Archbold came away with a 37-36 victory last night.

The Blue Streaks (3-0) rushed for 263 yards and added 108 through the air for 375 total yards and 17 first downs, while the Apaches (2-1) actually lost 12 yards on the ground for 302 total and 13 first downs.

Fruth scored on 4 and 14-yard runs and connected with Phil Baden on a 34-yard TD pass. Nick Cameron and Phil Boyers added 32 and 11-yard TD runs, respectively, for Archbold, which was led by Baden's 15 carries for 86 yards.

Bergman completed 26 of 36 passes but threw two interceptions.

Justin Hill caught 12 passes for 146 yards and two touchdowns for Fairview. Cale Sito caught a 29-yard TD pass and returned an interception 37 yards for another score.

LIBERTY CENTER - Curt Silveus rushed for 171 yards and scored four touchdowns as Liberty Center set a record for most league games won in succession - 24.

Rodney Ponton rushed for 134 yards and scored twice.

The Tigers had a team total of 431 yards rushing, only slightly better than Evergreen's 415. Evergreen was the last league team to beat Liberty Center .

Evergreen's Kyle Keeler rushed 17 times for 220 yards and one TD. Brent Simon had 127 yards rushing and two TDs.

HAMLER - Chris Tietje ran for 136 yards on 30 carries and scored three touchdowns for Patrick Henry on runs of 12, 1 and 1 yards.

Isaac Arthur backed Tietje with 79 yards on 20 carries with two touchdowns on runs of 1 and 2 yards.

Tony Pawlowicz led Montpelier with 130 yards on 20 carries and two TDs. His scoring runs went for 1 and 19 yards.

WAUSEON - Paul Harmon ran for 217 yards on 20 carries and scored five TDs for Wauseon.

Harmon's TDs came on runs of 66, 12, 2 and 69 yards and a 30-yard punt return.

Kyle Kissling scored on an 18-yard run for Swanton.

Wauseon ran for 390 yards and added 208 in the air for a whopping 598 total yards. Swanton had 64 and 63 for 127.

DELTA - Nate Kmic gained 116 yards on 20 carries and scored on an 11-yard run and Mark Nagel added 69 yards on 16 carries and scored on runs of 4 and 1 yards for Delta.

Delta ran for 235 yards and passed for 22 while Bryan was held to 49 and 39.
