Suburban Lakes roundup: Oak Harbor tops Eastwood 33-14

OAK HARBOR - Oak Harbor quarterback Joe Noggle threw for one touchdown and ran for another as the Rockets beat Eastwood 33-14 last night in a battle of unbeaten teams.

Noggle connected with Bryan Wood on a 45-yard TD play in the first quarter and later tallied on a four-yard run.

Oak Harbor also scored when Brian Gerber recovered a blocked punt in the end zone and on four-yard runs by J.D. Bergman and Greg Van Horn.

The Rockets' Trent Thorbahn led all rushers with 140 yards on 11 carries and Bergman added 121 yards on 23 attempts.

Eastwood quarterback Kevin Leady threw two touchdown bombs - a 54-yarder to Andy Stickel in the first quarter and a 59-yarder to Arik Witker in the fourth.

GENOA - Tyler Rohloff totaled 263 yards and scored two touchdowns for the Comets, who outgained the Redskins 248 yards to 120 from scrimmage.

Rohloff scored the game's first touchdown on a 47-yard run in the first quarter and added a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the second for Genoa, which led 21-6 at the half. He ended up rushing 17 times for 131 yards, caught two passes for 15 more and added 117 yards on kickoff returns.

Josh Zetzer scored on a six-yard run and Chris Mazur caught a five-yard TD pass from Pete Pinkelton (7-of-21 for 73 yards) for Port Clinton.

KANSAS - Brandon Racheter scored on a two-yard run as Lakota won in overtime.

Lakota gained 150 yards on the ground and 5 in the air while St. Wendelin was limited to 10 rushing and 74 passing.

Kickers were the top weapons in this defensive battle as Lakota punted for 200 yards on seven punts and St. Wendelin 188 on eight.

GIBSONBURG - Gibsonburg won the battle on the ground - 171 to 130 - but Hopewell-Loudon easily won the air - 235 to 12.

Jason Bodart hit scoring passes of 35 yards to Shawn Meyer, 21 to Cody Brickner and 50 to Shawn Burer.

J.R. Brickner ran for 101 yards on 21 carries, including a two-yard score.

Wes Milleson scored on runs of 57 and 15 yards for Gibsonburg.

ELMORE - The Wildcats ran wild, piling up 56 points in the first half en route to a lopsided victory.

Adam Egert led the way for Woodmore, scoring three of the Wildcats 11 touchdowns on short runs of 1, 3, and 1 yards. He picked up 111 yards on 10 carries.

Woodmore quarterback Chet Engle completed 6 of 7 passes for 98 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown toss to Buddy Perkins.

Danbury scored on a 61-yard pass from Brian Schenko to Jake Fanning and on a 1-yard plunge by Ron Skudrin.

MARGARETTA - Jacob Gallatin had 116 yards on just eight carries, scored on a 65-yard run and grabbed TD passes of 20 and 29 yards from Robby Lewis to pace Margaretta.

Elmwood's Kyle Rhoad scored on runs of 5 and 9 yards and hit Eric Wansitler with a 43-yard TD pass.
