ESPN to show James to nation

BRISTOL, Conn. - LeBron James is bringing high school basketball back to ESPN.

The network's ESPN2 will televise the Dec. 12 game between the star senior's team from St. Vincent-St. Mary High of Akron and Virginia's Oak Hill Academy.

It's ESPN's first regular-season prep game since 1989.

James was Ohio's Mr. Basketball the last two seasons, and he's appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated. He is so highly regarded that he could be the No. 1 overall choice in the next NBA draft.

Some SV-SM already are on pay-per-view TV.

Markeisha Hudgins drilled a three-point shot at the buzzer to cap Woodward's comeback from a 13-point deficit to begin the fourth quarter and send the Polar Bears (2-3) to a 66-65 victory over Northwood last night in girls basketball.

Hudgins finished with 25 points and teammates Lanada Whitlock and Brittany Stenson added 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Stacy Ziegler paced the Rangers (2-1) with 19 points while Kelly Parrish added 18. Northwood made only 6 of 14 foul shots in the final period.

NOTRE DAME 53, WAUSEON 47

Darcy Wagner scored 15 points and Maureen Hunter added 12 for the Eagles (3-0).

Kelly Stechschulte tallied 14 points for the visiting Indians (1-1).

CLAY 69, ROGERS 45

The Eagles jumped to a 9-0 lead and were never headed.

Kate Achter scored 23 points and Kristin Crawford added 20 for Clay (3-0).

Olivia Griswold tallied 18 and Octavia Griswold 10 for the Rams (1-2).

MAUMEE VALLEY 68, LIBBEY 53

Mari Brandman threw in a career-high 26 points, Megan Sieberg added 22 and Katy Pounds chipped in 14 for the Hawks (1-3), who recovered strongly from a four-point first quarter.

Anastasha White scored 17 and Tasha Brock 15 for the Cowboys (1-3).

SWANTON 53, OTTAWA HILLS 45

SWANTON - Jennifer Keesey tossed in 11 of her game-high 14 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Bulldogs, who outscored the visitors 18-11 in the final period.

Chelsea White and Katie Miller added 12 and 10, respectively, for Swanton (1-2).

Lauren Kruse paced the Green Bears with 13 points while Sidney Sterling had 10.

PATRICK HENRY 61, NAPOLEON 42

HAMLER - Karyn Creager and Ashley Smith scored 13 points apiece for the Patriots (3-0), who outrebounded the visitors 36-20 and outscored them 11-4 at the free-throw line.

Sara Damman was high for the Wildcats (1-2) with nine.

DETROIT - Danielle Kamm was named Michigan's Miss Basketball.

The 6-2 Saginaw Nouvel post player (18 points, 11.6 rebounds), who is headed to Marquette, won the award by a 457-413 margin over Victoria Lucas-Perry of Flint Powers.
