Girls basketball roundup: Archbold tops Holgate 60-51

ARCHBOLD - Amy Wanemacher scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as Archbold defeated Holgate 60-51 yesterday in girls basketball.

Archbold (17-2) is the state's 11th-rated team in Division III and Holgate (14-5) is 14th in Division IV.

Kara Buehrer added 13 points and Betsy Stotzer 11 for Archbold.

Vanessa Rothman led Holgate with 28 points, including 10-of-12 shooting from the foul line. Holgate was 20-of-27 from the line. Archbold was 16-of-17.

BRYAN 75, FAIRVIEW 39

SHERWOOD - Thea Crist had 16, freshman Beth Yahraus 15 and Jamie Dennis 13 for 13-6 Bryan.

SHAWNEE 61, WOODWARD 51

Stephanie Schwartz led visiting Lima Shawnee (11-8) with 14 points.

Brittany Stenson scored 18 and Markeisha Hudgins 14 for Woodward (9-9).

WHITMER 68, NOTRE DAME 48

Bridget Buss and Angie DeWood scored 23 and 20 points, respectively, as the Panthers (9-10) downed the Eagles.

Sara Sheperd had three 3-pointers among her 12 points, DeWood netted four 3s and Buss three as Whitmer totaled a season-high 10.

Heather Wicyzynski was high for Notre Dame with 19 points.

FINDLAY 76, SANDUSKY 40

FINDLAY - Kellyn Tisci scored 21 points - she hit all six of her 2-point attempts and went 3-for-5 from beyond the arc - and Leah Miller added 20 as the Trojans (11-7, 7-2 GLL) romped.

Jessica Schloemp added 11 for Findlay.

Tiffany Cornwell led Sandusky with 10.

OAK HARBOR 48, WOODMORE 37

ELMORE - Mandy Quisno scored 21 points and Jen Moor added 13 for 18-0 Oak Harbor.

Leah Garcia led Woodmore (11-8) with 13 points and Megan Abbey added 10.

Oak Harbor outscored the Wildcats 28-15 in the second half.

FREMONT ST. JOSEPH 59, GIBSONBURG 48

GIBSONBURG - Lindsey Smith popped in 21 points and Angela Gonya and Katy Hasselbach each chipped in with 14 for the Streaks.

Sarah Walby paced the Golden Bears with 18 points. Mallory Fleming and Joni Rupke added 10 apiece.

NORTHWOOD 39, EMMANUEL BAPTIST 23

Jamie Flick scored a game-high 15 points for Northwood (13-6, 9-3 TAAC).

Shanna Elston led the Warriors (4-16, 1-11) with 8 points.

TOLEDO CHRISTIAN 80, MAUMEE VALLEY 60

Andria Barlage scored 22 points and Allissa Toth added 19 for Toledo Christian (9-10, 7-5 TAAC), which hit 25 of 37 foul shots.
