Eastwood keeps share of top spot

BLOOMDALE - Eastwood remained tied with Woodmore atop the Suburban Lakes League with a 59-56 victory at Elmwood last night.

Brent Snyder scored 15, Arik Witker added 12 and Steve Beeley 11 for Eastwood (13-5, 10-3).

Mike Mobus led Elmwood (11-8, 8-5) with 17, Tony Overton had 13 and Kyle Rhoad 10.

After trailing 24-20 at halftime, Eastwood outscored Elmwood 23-5 in the third quarter then hung on as the Royals rallied in the fourth, 27-16.

The Eagles won despite being outscored 21-11 at the foul line.

ELMORE - Woodmore sprinted to an 18-0 lead, blanking the Flyers 14-0 in the first quarter.

The balanced Wildcats (12-6, 10-3) were led by Tyler Rosenberger's 11 points and Marcus McGee's 10. Brandon Constantini produced six points and nine rebounds.

Chad Tracy's seven-point effort topped Lake (8-10, 6-7).

GENOA - The Comets won their sixth straight game - all in the SLL - by extending a four-point half time lead into a 12-point advantage after three quarters.

Zach Diekman scored a game-high 22 points and pulled down nine rebounds for Genoa (10-9, 8-5). Brad Beach tallied 15 points and Kevin Dunn had 14 for the home team.

Brodie Miller and Ryan Baker scored 12 points apiece for Otsego (9-9, 7-6).

GIBSONBURG - The Golden Bears held a 34-26 advantage on the boards led by B.J. Ernsthausen's 10 rebounds.

Nathan Kirwen tallied a game-high 18 points for Gibsonburg (2-17, 2-11), which pulled out of the SLL basement. Ryan Wasserman and Ernsthausen scored 15 apiece.

Lakota (3-16, 1-12) got 14 points from Grant Nowak.
