SLL: Leady's 6 TDs power Eastwood

BLOOMDALE - Kevin Leady ran for five touchdowns and passed for another as Eastwood won a shootout 43-33 at Elmwood last night.

Kyle Rhoad kept Elmwood (1-3) in the thick of it, passing for four TDs and returning a kickoff 86 yards for another.

The teams alternated TDs until the Eagles (3-1) had the first three TDs of the second half. Leady ran 62 yards for the first, passed 21 yards to Andy Stickel for the second, and ran nine yards for the third.

Leady had 38 carries for 239 of Eastwood's 304 rushing yards and completed 6 of 13 passes for 125 yards.

Rhoad completed 24 of 37 passes for 336 yards. He ran 14 times for 63 yards.

GIBSONBURG - Matt Mills completed 12 of 20 passes for 121 yards and two touchdowns, and Brett Svanberg kicked an 18-yard field goal in overtime to lift the Knights.

Craig Dix scored on a 33-yard touchdown run, Kyle Pickerel hit Marcus Ahle with a 24-yard TD pass, and Wes Mileson returned a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown as Gibsonburg (0-1, 2-2) took a 21-0 halftime lead.

But Otsego (1-0, 3-1) scored on 27 and 15-yard passes to Jordan Murphy, and a four-yard TD run by Gary Osmond, which tied the score in the fourth.

Dix finished with 103 yards on 18 carries.

MILLBURY - Danny Tarver rambled 41 yards for a fourth-quarter touchdown that lifted the Flyers.

After Mike McCluskey opened the scoring with an 18-yard TD toss to Corey Robertson in the first quarter, Genoa countered with Craig Schuffennecker's one-yard TD run and went ahead on Adam Clement's three-yard run in the third.

Wes Blank brought Lake back with a 24-yard TD run.

KANSAS - Dana Wend scored three touchdowns and rushed for 50 yards, as Woodmore evened its overall record at 2-2 while opening its SLL campaign.

Jeremy Harpel collected 65 rushing yards on four carries, and Chandler Shirer and Juni Arreola added touchdown runs.

Billy Eisenman scored on a 41-yard touchdown run in the first quarter for Lakota (0-1, 1-3).

Woodmore led in total yardage, 311-189.
