Michigan: Bedford earns ninth straight win

SALINE - Brian Champine scored 17 points as Bedford took a 52-44 victory last night over Saline, its school-record ninth victory in a row.

Matt Doberstein added 13 points and Jake Welch scored 12 for the Kicking Mules (11-1, 2-0 Southeastern Conference).

Geoff Breneman scored 13 and Dru Dominici 11 for Saline (9-1, 1-1).

Bedford hit 15 of 19 of its tries from the foul line.

OTTAWA LAKE - Whiteford used a press and resultant steals to outscore Deerfield 27-8 in the second quarter and, coupled with 8-of-10 foul shooting, eased to its second win in 10 outings and first in the Tri-County Conference.

Nick Schmidt led the charge with 19 points and six rebounds.

Winless Deerfield got 20 points from Brandon Clark.

ERIE - Point guard Kyle Upchurch scored 21 points and delivered 10 assists in the Eagles victory as Erie Mason got out of the gate quickly and led 43-22 at halftime.

Kevin Laderach added 16 points and Jared England and Aaron Roelfs 10 apiece for the Eagles (9-1, 5-1 Lenawee County Athletic Association). Roelfs also had 13 rebounds.

Zach Mulholland had 14 points for Onsted (7-3, 4-2), with Anthony Hartman and Josh Dixon added 10 apiece.
