Prep football roundup: Northview wins in OT

Victor Cortez scored the game-tying touchdown and then sealed the deal with an interception on the final possesion of the game as Northview knocked off visiting Port Clinton 34-27 in overtime last night.

With the Wildcats (1-1) losing by a touchdown, Cortez bulled his way through the line for a one-yard touchdown.

In the extra session Northview quarterback Mike Schneider found receiver Matt Wade open for a nine-yard score.

On Port Clinton's possession, Cortez picked off a Joe Higgins pass that deflected off his intended receiver.

Schneider gained 128 yards on 24 rushes and threw for 116 yards and two touchdowns. Casey Meredith picked up a pair of touchdowns for the Wildcats and Eric Hatcher caught a touchdown pass.

Josh Wierzba had 107 yards and two touchdowns for Port Clinton (0-2) and Matt Rhode notched two touchdown runs.

DEFIANCE - Steve Owin hit 12 of 24 passes for 274 yards and two touchdowns, and Ryan Radcliffe hit 10 of 18 for 150 yards and two TDs to pace Fairview's romp.

Fairview (2-0) had 424 yards in the air but just 29 rushing.

Ten receivers caught passes.

Genoa (0-2) ran for 180 and added 67 in the air.

Genoa's scores came on a 44-yard run by Josh Huddleston and a 40-yard pass from Nick Wiciak to Mark Moell.

Huddleston gained 77 yards on seven carries.
