City: Waugh, Marvin lead St. John's

Marcus Waugh piled up 129 yards and a touchdown rushing and Rusty Marvin recorded 117 yards and two touchdowns to pace St. John s Jesuit to a 30-21 win over Start last night.

Waugh also picked off a Start pass and dashed 60 yards in the fourth quarter as time expired.

The Titans (3-2, 2-0) rushed for 277 yards, while Start (1-4, 0-2) gained 204 yards of total offense.

Javon Haythorne scored three Spartan touchdowns on passes of 18, 13 and 44 yards from Mike Berman and finished the contest with 88 yards on five receptions. Berman threw for 124 yards.

Woodward 41, Rogers 14

Robert Barner rushed nine times for 70 yards and two touchdowns, threw a 71-yard TD pass to James Fisher and scored on a 30-yard interception return to lead the Polar Bears.

Makonan Rice carried 18 times for 68 yards and set up the go-ahead touchdown with a 75-yard punt return for Woodward (4-1, 2-0), which compiled 324 total yards.

Kris LaRue scored on a seven-yard run and Monte Menchaca caught a 14-yard TD pass for Rogers (0-5, 0-2), which gained 226 yards.

Bowsher 30, Libbey 6

Senior tailback Arthur Allen scored all four Bowsher touchdowns and ran for a two-point conversion as the Rebels (4-1, 2-0) handled the Cowboys. Allen carried the ball 24 times for 175 of Bowsher s 270 rushing yards.

Quarterback Mickey Jewell passed eight yards to Allen for one of the TDs and also completed two PAT passes, as well as running six times for 58 yards.

Tom McGranahan completed 9 of 18 passes for 70 yards and a TD, and Jay-Ron Kynard rushed 14 times for 70 yards for the Cowboys (2-3, 0-2).

Clay 21, Waite 0

Nick Sondergeld rushed for 125 yards and two touchdown to lead the Eagles.

Sondergeld scored on a one-yard touchdown run in the second quarter and a two-yard run in the fourth.

Mike Moore hauled in a 30-yard touchdown pass from Brent Graham in the third quarter for Clay (4-1, 1-1).

Graham ran for 94 yards and Andy Dombroff added 91 for the Eagles, who had 394 yards. Tony Gardull had eight tackles and an interception.

Waite gained 151 yards.
