Quarterback Dan Newman ran for two touchdowns as Toledo Christian celebrated its homecoming last night with a 34-0 victory over Summerfield at Central Catholic.

The Eagles (3-2) rushed 47 times for 413 yards while holding the Bulldogs (2-3) to 71 yards, all on the ground.

"Our whole defense played awesome," Eagle coach Mike Snyder said.

Matt Orr ran 14 times for 112 yards and a TD, Ben Holt carried four times for 92 yards and a TD, and Ryan Schunk added 79 yards on six carries, while Newman accounted for 64 yards on nine rushes.

Kirtland 28, Cardinal Stritch 7

KIRTLAND, Ohio Kirtland s running game was too much for the Cardinals.

The winners (3-2) piled up 201 yards rushing, while Cardinal Stritch (1-4) could only gain nine yards rushing and 154 passing.

Stritch s score came on Josh Hierholzer s recovery of a blocked punt in the end zone in the fourth quarter.

Sullivan Black River 60, Ottawa Hills 20

Green Bear quarterback Sam Miller threw for 244 yards and three touchdowns but the defense yielded 578 total yards and nine touchdowns.

Andrew Brewster caught four passes for 121 yards, including a 69-yard touchdown.

Aaron Crooks scored on a 15-yard pass play and came up with an interception for Ottawa Hills (1-4, 0-0).
