Michigan: Mules stop Tecumseh

TECUMSEH - When Bedford tackle Nick Nicol stopped a Tecumseh ball carrier near the goal line on the game's final play he preserved a 27-19 victory for the Mules.

Jim Simpson led Bedford (2-6) with 146 yards on 25 carries and scored on runs of 1, 15 and 6 yards.

The Mules' other score came on a 36-yard pass from Brandon Jackson to Bryan Strouse.

Mark Mitchell gained 277 yards on 36 carries and scored three TDs for Tecumseh (2-6).

Whiteford 24,

Paulding 22

OTTAWA LAKE - The Bobcats trailed Paulding by five in the third quarter when Scott Donley blocked a punt that set up Jed Bunge's go-ahead touchdown run.

Donley's block was Whiteford's second of the game. Dan Ovall blocked a punt that was recovered by Chuck Tabbert in the end zone to pull Whiteford within 22-17.

Bunge carried 29 times for 167 yards and scored twice. Bunge also threw for 67 yards.

Paulding had 28 carries for 135 yards and passed for 61.

Andrew Rhoades kicked a 32-yard field goal for Whiteford (4-4, 2-3).
