Boys basketball roundup: St. John's Raymond hits 1,000

B.J. Raymond became the eighth St. John's Jesuit player to reach 1,000 points in a career as he scored 25 to lead the Titans over Fremont Ross 81-46 last night in boys basketball.

The Titans jumped out to a 20-6 lead after the first quarter and had a 37-15 advantage at the half.

Zach Hillesland added 18 points. Joe Jakubowski had 10.

Traveyon Wolverton and Fred Shearon scored 12 and 11 points, respectivley, for Fremont Ross.

COLLINWOOD 75, LIBBEY 70

Libbey surrendered a one-point lead with less than a minute remaining, as Cleveland Collinwood hit a 3-ponter and a pair of free throws to seal the win.

Nate Miles led Libbey (1-1) with 22 points, while William Buford added 12 points and seven rebounds.

FINDLAY 66, ROGERS 63

FINDLAY - Brad Sutton scored 29 points, Alex Raymond added 12 and Findlay outscored Rogers 19-6 from the foul line.

Brent Jones paced Rogers with 24 points and DaJuan Mitchum and DeRon Williams added 16 apiece.

START 57, TOLEDO CHRISTIAN 32

Jermaine Jones scored 17 points and Matt Foley 11 as the Spartans pulled away in the second half to rout the Eagles

Zach Brittenham tallied 10 points to lead the Eagles (1-1).

OTSEGO 63, WAITE 52

Murphy Jordan had 26 points and Donald Casey added 16 for the visiting Knights. Mark Wortham had 17 points and Troy Murphy 12 for the Indians.

BOWLING GREEN 65, SOUTHVIEW 59

Southview led 50-44 after three quarters, but the Cougars' inexperience showed as they were outscored 21-9 over the final eight minutes.

Southview went just 8-for-17 from the free-throw line, while visiting Bowling Green was 23-for-30.

The Bobcats (2-0) got 13 points from Brandon Radabaugh, 11 apiece from Ryan Hoehner and Matt Fortney and 10 each from Loudon Hammersmith and Jeremiah Kollar. Alex Merrell led the Cougars (1-1) with 17 points.

ANTHONY WAYNE 70, SPRINGFIELD 57

Brent Papenfuss scored 21 points, Tony Zacharias had 20 and the Generals hit 22 of 26 free throws at home.

Kris Koval added 13 for AW.

Fletcher Noble paced Springfield with 27 points.

PERRYSBURG 64, ROSSFORD 35

Visiting Perrysburg opened with four in double figures - Jason Rager and Scott Perkins had 14 each, Tyler Winkleman 12 and Jamie Casey 10. Justin Wagner led Rossford with 13 points.

MAUMEE 65, NORTHVIEW 53

Visiting Maumee got 21 points from Lamonte Dawson and 20 from Andy Dybala. Matt Wade led Northview with 11.

PORT CLINTON 63, GENOA 38

GENOA - Justin Horne scored 14 in a balanced Port Clinton attack. Anthony Robertson paced Genoa with 11.

EMMANUEL BAPTIST 63, MONCLOVA CHRISTIAN 53

Scott Nietz poured in 38 points for visiting Emmanuel Baptist and Kris Benefiel added 11.

Matt Velazquez paced Monclova Christian with 25 and Derek Merrin had 15.

OLD FORT - Trevor Hollman paced Lakota with 10. Marcus Hoke had 14 for Old Fort.

OAK HARBOR - Shane Paule led Oak Harbor with 21 points.

EDON - Joe Wolff and Ryan Redmann scored 12 points apiece and Sam Miller added 10 for Ottawa Hills.
