City League: Roberts scores 32 in St. Francis win

In a defensive battle in the City League last night, St. Francis de Sales' Darryl Roberts stood out.

Roberts would have been the game's high scorer with his fourth-quarter total of 18 alone - and finished with 32 - as the visiting Knights topped Central Catholic 55-48.

Roberts connected on 12 foul shots as the Knights hit 17 of 24 foul shots to Central's 17 of 28.

Ryan Gast and Kevin Jansen scored 14 points each to pace Central.

The Knights led 11-5 after one quarter, 24-14 at the half and 33-29 after three quarters before the offenses got in gear.

The Knights outrebounded Central 25-19 and the Irish were hurt by 31 turnovers.

William Buford scored 18 points, Chris Poellnitz tallied 17 and Nate Miles had 16 as Libbey prevailed in a tight game that was tied with about two mintues left.

London Cunningham added 10 for the visiting Cowboys (3-2, 1-1).

Anthony Pettaway topped Bowsher (1-3, 1-2) with 23 points. Craig Weaks scored 17, Ken Hairston 11 and Fred Sawyer 10.

Jermaine Jones poured in 17 points and was the primary rebounder as Start rolled over Whitmer.

Terrell West scored all 14 of his points in the second half for the Spartans (3-1, 2-1), while Grant Maxey scored 10 of his 12 in the first half.

Nick Spech tallied 15 and Andre Thompson 10 for Whitmer (0-3, 0-2).

St. John's (3-0, 2-0) pulled away in the third quarter to register a comfortable win over Woodward.

B.J. Raymond led the Titans with 17 points, aided by 11 from Zach Hillesland and 10 from Mike Floyd.

Tehran Jones topped the Polar Bears with 12 points.
