1/15/2005Scott pulled away from a 25-25 halftime tie last night to defeat visiting Rogers 65-47.
Kenny Bryd paced the Bulldogs (12-0, 7-0) with 15 points and Darrion Griffin and James Walker added 14 apiece.
Walker scored six in the third quarter when Scott outscored Rogers 25-13 to take control.
Brent Jones led the Rams (3-8, 2-5) with 18 points.
Central 62, Libbey 61
Dan Amato scored 19 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter when visiting Central Catholic outscored Libbey 14-9.
Amato was fouled while shooting a 3-pointer with 1.5 seconds left. He missed the first attempt but made the next two to give the Irish (6-6, 1-6) the victory.
Jordan Bonczek paced Central in scoring with 20 points.
Libbey (5-5, 2-3) had three in double figures as William Buford had 16 and Chris Poellnitz and Phillip Pearson scored 13 each. Nate Miles had nine points and nine rebounds for the Cowboys.
Pearson scored 10 and Buford eight in the third quarter when the Cowboys outscored the Irish 22-9.
But Central had jumped to a 22-11 lead after one quarter and the Cowboys led just 52-48 going into the final quarter.
Central hit 18 of 26 free throws to Libbey's 9-of-14.
Bowsher 59, Whitmer 32
Anthony Pettaway had 17 points and 15 rebounds as the Rebels ripped the Panthers for their sixth straight victory.
Bowsher (7-4, 4-3) took control in the first half when cold-shooting Whitmer (4-6, 1-5) went 3-for-26 from the field and trailed 22-8, with Pettaway alone accounting for 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Start 43, Woodward 38
Matt Foley scored a game-high 12 points for the Spartans (6-5, 4-3).
The Polar Bears (4-8, 2-4), playing without two suspended starters averaging 28 points per game between them, rallied with a 14-5 fourth quarter, shooting 38 percent from the field for the game and 67 percent in the fourth, but fell short.
Robert Bell and Robert Barner led Woodward with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
