City: Scott tops Start, earns playoff spot

Scott pulled out a 61-57 victory last night over visiting Start in a game that was close all the way, thereby earning a spot in the City League playoffs.

The Bulldogs took control with a 22-14 edge in the second quarter and maintained the lead the rest of the way.

James Walker topped Scott (15-3, 8-3) with 15 points, with Kyle Lightner and Darrion Griffin contributing 12 each.

Matt Foley led Start (9-6, 6-5) with 16 points, with Terrell West and Grant Maxie adding 13 apiece.

Central 64, Clay 57

Dan Amato scored 17 of his 32 points in the first quarter when the Irish took a 29-14 lead.

Amato hit four treys and scored 10 from the foul line.

Jordan Bonczek added 17 points for Central (11-6, 5-6).

Brett McDougle paced visiting Clay (12-5, 6-5) with 20 points, John Nelson had 18 and Derek Spencer 10.

Central outrebounded the Eagles 37-24 and outscored them from the foul line 15-7.

Bowsher 74,

Woodward 50

Craig Weaks led Bowsher (10-7, 5-6) with 21 points.

Adam Crisp added 15, with eight coming in the third quarter when the Rebels outscored the Polar Bears 23-8. Tony Branyan added 11 points.

Dejuane Pettaway led visiting Woodward (4-14, 2-9) with 24 points and Theran Jones added 10.

Waite 51, Whitmer 48

Troy Murphy led Waite with 21 points.

J.J. Fought and Ryne Smith scored 12 each for Whitmer. Smith had four treys.
