Boys basketball roundup: Rams slip past AW

With the game tied with four seconds left, Anthony Wayne called time out.

Problem was the visiting Generals were out of timeouts and Rogers went on to win 69-67 last night in boys basketball.

The Rams' DaJuan Micham made one of two free throws assessed for the time-out technical. Then Rogers' Deron Williams was fouled on the in-bounds pass and also made one of two.

Brent Jones tallied 30 points for Rogers (5-12). Williams finished with 16.

Brent Papenfuss and Tony Zacharias led AW (10-10) with 18 each. Kris Koval added 13.

LIMA SENIOR 65, START 62

LIMA - Start kept it close with a 25-point final quarter, but couldn't quite get over the hump against Lima Senior as Grant Maxey had 15 points and 14 rebounds for the Spartans (10-7).

Travis Walton tallied 18 points and Brandon Cooks 16 for Lima Senior.

SPRINGFIELD 49, NAPOLEON 43

NAPOLEON - Springfield won despite being outscored 13-4 in the second quarter and trailing 23-16 at the break.

Fletcher Noble led the Blue Devils (10-10) with 13, Chris Liber had 12 and Steve Decker 10.

Larry Ward had 15 for Napoleon (8-12).

TOLEDO CHRISTIAN 82, MAUMEE VALLEY 55

Sam Heisman led the charge for the Eagles (14-6, 8-4 TAAC) with 18 points. Kyle Bensch followed with 16, Blake Powell had 14 and Zach Brittenham had 14.

Craig Choka paced the Hawks (5-14, 1-11) with 16 points. Ian Schmidt was next up with 10.

EVERGREEN 58, NORTH CENTRAL 37

METAMORA - Nick Langenderfer scored 14 points, Andrew Pinkelman 13 and Travis Dowling 12 for Evergreen (14-6).

TIFFIN CALVERT 91, DANBURY 78

TIFFIN - Ryan Kommick scored 25 points, Brad Walliser added 18, Aaron Mass 16 and Corey DeBarbrie 13 for Tiffin Calvert (16-4).

Jake Fanning led Danbury (18-2) with 27 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, while Jarrett Ensign registered 13 points and 10 boards. Brian Schenko and Thomas Clifton added 17 and 10 points, respectively.

AYERSVILLE 56, NORTH BALTIMORE 53

NORTH BALTIMORE - Anthony Johnson tallied 26 points for Ayersville. Jon Wolfrum added 12 for the Pilots (16-4).

Nick Brossia led North Baltimore (7-13) with 22 and Josh Eichar added 16.
