The St. John's Jesuit tennis team won its second consecutive City League regular-season title yesterday with a 3-2 victory over St. Francis de Sales at

Jermain Park.

Junior Dusty DeLelles and sophomore Tyler Sbrocchi were winners at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Freshmen Eric North and Steven Smith combined to win at second doubles.

St. Francis senior Mike O'Connell defeated senior James Davis 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 1 singles match. The Knights' No. 1 doubles team of Steve Cabanski and Peter Jajou also won.

"It was a great win for the boys," said St. John's coach J.D. Davis. "The conditions were horrible. The wind chill was in the 40s. But they did not let that bother them at all."

The Titans will also attempt to defend their 2004 City League tournament title Monday and Tuesday at Jermain Park.

St. John's and St. Francis shared the title in 2003 and the Knights won the year before that.

"It's very intense," Davis said. "We have the upmost respect for them."
