SLL: Lakota grabs 1st league victory

KANSAS - Lakota got fourth-quarter touchdowns by Nathan Sattler and Justin Apple to pull away for its first Suburban Lakes League victory, a 26-17 win over winless Gibsonburg.

Sattler also passed 45 yards to Adam Cox for a TD for Lakota (3-5, 1-4).

Nathan Kirwen ran eight yards for one TD and passed 28 yards to Clyde Ickes for another for Gibsonburg (0-8, 0-5).

Apple carried 19 times for 113 yards to lead all rushers. His touchdown came on a 34-yard run.

Eastwood 57, Genoa 0

GENOA - Josh Fairbanks scored on runs of 7, 24 and 40 yards to lead the Eagles in a romp.

Eastwood finished with 471 yards of total offense, including 281 yards rushing as Jeremy Foster ran for 90 yards and a TD while Fairbanks added 83.

Eric Rutherford added 190 yards passing with scoring strikes to Craig Rutherford and Trey Hunter for Eastwood, which moved to 6-2 overall and 4-1 in the league.

Meanwhile, the Eagle defense limited Genoa (2-6, 1-4) to 129 yards of total offense, including just 18 passing yards, in posting the shutout.

Cleveland South 20, Woodmore 3

ELMORE - Kevin Starling carried the ball 14 times for 111 yards and a touchdown as the visitors defeated the Wildcats.

South ended up with 301 net total yards, 195 on the ground, to Woodmore's 177.

Chris Weiland led the Wildcats (2-6) with 62 yards in 21 rushes.
