Findlay rips Napoleon, wins GBC crown

NAPOLEON Caleb Enright ran 20 times for 197 yards and five touchdowns as Findlay pounded Napoleon 37-7 last night to wrap up the Greater Buckeye Conference championship.

The visiting Trojans (9-1, 5-0) dominated their ninth consecutive victory from the start, outgaining the Wildcats 255 yards to 1 in the first half en route to a 24-0 advantage.

Defensively, we needed that, Findlay coach Cliff Hite said. After the last two weeks, our defense has been abused by me and my coaches.

This week we simplified the `D. I m proud of the way our defense played tonight.

We got our confidence back and we need that going into the playoffs.

It is great to win the league championship, especially after starting 0-5 last year. To come back like this is a great feeling.

Last season, Findlay topped Napoleon 24-7 in the final game to grab a share of the title with Napoleon (8-2, 3-2).

Brandon Walker got the scoring started last night with a 36-yard field goal in the first quarter. Then, Enright exploded.

[Enright] is an exemplary football player. He s definitely one of the premier running backs in the league, Napoleon coach John Snoad said.

The senior, who was the GBC s defensive lineman of the year last season, scored on 12, 22 and 26-yard runs in the first half. He added 31 and 7-yard TD runs after intermission.

Caleb had the game of his life. He was unstoppable tonight, Hite said. He s had a couple games like this, but really nothing like this.

Findlay ground out 269 yards on 42 rushes and Chris Schneider added 64 yards through the air on a 4-of-14 effort with two interceptions.

The Trojans registered 12 first downs to Napoleon s four.

They ve got a great football team. They re every bit as good as we thought they d be, Snoad said.

Napoleon finished with 53 yards rushing and 14 through the air. It had two turnovers.

Jordan VanAusdale scored on a one-yard run for Napoleon.

Both teams will advance to the playoffs.
