Grass Lake eliminates Whiteford in Division 7

GRASS LAKE George Flanner rushed 16 times for 87 yards for Whiteford, but five turnovers doomed the Bobcats chances as they fell to Grass Lake 21-0 in the first round of the Division 7 playoffs last night.

Grass Lake (8-2) compiled 122 yards on the ground and 88 through the air, compared to 107 and 47 for Whiteford (6-4).

Austin Cole scored from the 2 for the only points the home team would need. Grass Lake, which scored all of its points in the first half, also scored on a safety. Dave Gust completed 5 of 11 passes for 47 yards for Whiteford.

Sand Creek 39, Whitmore Lake 7

SAND CREEK Andrew Pickford ran 23 times for 128 yards and added a 35-yard touchdown on a fumble return, and Cole Bice rushed for three touchdowns as the Aggies pounded the Trojans in the first week of the Division 7 football playoffs.

Sand Creek (9-1) amassed 234 yards rushing and Matt Evans completed 11 of 20 passes for 129 yards and two touchdowns.

Dean Hamlin scored on a one-yard run as Whitmore Lake (6-4) took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, but Sand Creek did all of its scoring in the next two.

Evans threw a two-yard touchdown pass to George Estes and a nine-yarder to Matt Williams. In between, Bice scored on 1, 9 and 3-yard runs for the Aggies.

Sand Creek meets Grass Lake next week.
