Opelt paces Ross over Sandusky

SANDUSKY Aaron Opelt threw for 249 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another score as Fremont Ross defeated Sandusky 42-20 last night.

Opelt completed 17 of 32 passes, including touchdown passes of 14 and 13 yards to Kyle Cook and 23 yards to Ryan Ottney. Opelt also ran 17 times for 156 yards and scored on a 23-yard burst.

Aaron Hinkle got the Little Giants started by going 48 yards to the end zone with a fumble recovery.

Jordan Edwards scored on a one-yard run for the Blue Streaks before Ross scored the next 27 to go up 27-6 at the half.

Terrance Churchwell also caught a 37-yard TD pass from Matt Feltner.

Ottawa-Glandorf 28,Defiance 7

OTTAWA Chad Ellerbrock rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown as the Titans won an outright Western Buckeye League title.

Jay Laubenthal completed 8 of 17 passes for 158 yards and a touchdown for O-G.

Adam Wagner hit 14 of 24 passes for 103 yards and ran for 22 yards and a touchdown but threw two interceptions for Defiance. Jarquiece King ran for 66 yards on 18 carries to lead the Bulldogs.

Huron 35, Oak Harbor 7

OAK HARBOR Nick Basting completed 12 of 20 passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns, and Trevor Greenawalt ran for 102 yards and a pair of touchdowns as the Tigers romped.

Aaron McCune carried 19 times for 131 yards for Oak Harbor, including a four-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.

Hopewell-Loudon 38, Fremont St. Joseph 6

BASCOM Andrew Brose connected on 11 of 17 passes for 168 yards and three touchdowns for the Chieftains (10-0, 7-0), who took the outright Midland Athletic League championship.

Sean Brickner ran for 72 yards and a touchdown and also caught a 24-yard TD catch.

Arlington 63, Van Buren 42

ARLINGTON Jamie Doxey rushed 25 times for 229 yards and four scores, and Jared Krout added three touchdowns for Arlington (8-2, 7-2 BVC), including on an 80-yard punt return.

Nick Kimmel ran 14 times for 163 yards and two touchdowns for Van Buren (4-6, 3-6).

Logan Scott also had an 85-yard interception return for a touchdown for the Red Devils, who led 34-21 at the half.

Ayersville 46, Edgerton 33

AYERSVILLE Jarred Hageman ran 16 times for 173 yards and three touchdowns, and Nick Girlie added 172 yards and three touchdowns on 32 carries for the Pilots, who led 28-6 after one quarter.

Justin Kurtz completed 25 of 53 passes for 416 yards and four touchdowns for the Bulldogs.

Fairview 55, Holgate 6

HOLGATE Kirk Jesse threw for 314 yards and two touchdowns to pace the Apaches, who led 41-6 at the half.

Toby Hill caught 10 passes for 156 yards and a touchdown and Levi Kuhn added 92 yards on four receptions.

Jared Clady threw a 10-yard TD pass to Michael Baker in the second quarter for Holgate.

Seneca East 14, Mohawk 13

SYCAMORE Coty Crapo caughtr a 12-yard touchdown pass from Jake Mahl in the third quarter and added a 23-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter as the Tigers rallied past Mohawk.

Carl Daniel rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown for the Warriors.

Hilltop 26, Edon 24

WEST UNITY Logan Schaffner ran 17 times for 82 yards and three touchdowns to pace the Cadets.

Jamie Laney scored twice for the Bombers, gaining 52 yards on 14 carries.

Wayne Trace 46, Hicksville 7

HAVILAND Lance Sinn carried 29 times for 238 yards and three touchdowns to lead Wayne Trace.
