Girls basketball roundup: Central topples Findlay

The Trojans' Carlee Roethlisberger poured in 30 points, but her effort wasn't enough as Central Catholic defeated Findlay 63-52 yesterday.

Mallory Strall scored 23 points to lead the Irish (2-1), who outscored the visiting Trojans 17-10 in the first quarter and 20-11 in the third.

Ellen Herman added 15 and Sharise Calhoun 10 for Central.

Emily Lause chipped in with 14 points for Findlay (2-1).

PERRYSBURG 49, NOTRE DAME 44

Nicole Parrish tossed in 28 points, leading undefeated Perrysburg to a hard-fought victory over Notre Dame.

The Yellow Jackets (3-0) outscored the Eagles (1-1) 15-6 in the second quarter, but Notre Dame came back to take a two-point lead in the second half.

Mallory Myers led the Eagles with 17 points and teammate Patrice Lalor also hit double digits with 12 points.

It stayed close all the way, but a 15-footer by Ashley Parrish and two more by Nicole Parrish put Perrysburg back out front and the Jackets made 6 of 7 free throws in the fourth quarter to keep the Eagles at bay.

MAUMEE 47, CLAY 45

Lindsay Diegel scored a game-high 20 points and the Panthers outscored the Eagles 30-18 in the second half of the nonconference game.

Sasha Matti added 12 points for the Panthers.

Maumee forced 15 turnovers and outscored Clay 15-3 in the third quarter.

Mollie Berry had 14 points to pace the Eagles, who led 27-17 at the half.

EASTMOOR 73, SCOTT 54

COLUMBUS - Eastmoor Academy's press was devastating to the visiting Bulldogs, who were outscored 24-2 in the first quarter.

Miesha Blackshear tallied 18 points and Shanice Sample had 16 for Scott (1-2).

Teresa Scott tossed in 24 points and Ayana Dunning had 19 for Eastmoor (1-0), which also posted a 25-11 advantage at the free throw line.

DEFIANCE 78, BOWSHER 66

Ashley Jackson dropped in six 3-pointers en route to 28 points for the Bulldogs, who led 36-33 at the half and pulled away.

DeeDee Hillman added 19 points and Brittany Parsons had 15 for Defiance (2-1).

Lauren Crockett scored 17 points, Tiara Roberts had 16 and Ciara Palmer chipped in 13 for the Rebels (1-2).

EMMANUEL BAPTIST 39, MONCLOVA CHRISTIAN 38

Emily Thomas and Megan Swisher scored 11 points apiece to lead the Warriors (1-1), who had a 6-2 lead after one quarter and held on.

Hanna Keiser tallied 13 points, Sarah Clark had 11 and Sarah Keiser 10 for Monclova Christian.

MARION HARDING 53, FREMONT ROSS 27

MARION - Jessica Jenkins tallied 19 points and Keylee Kepford had 13 for Harding (1-1), which led 31-12 at the half.

Ashley Long led Ross (1-2) with 12 points.

DANBURY 59, OLD FORT 50

OLD FORT - Kim Zura scored 14 points and Megan Twarek added 13 to lead the Lakers (2-1) over Old Fort.

Danbury outscored the Stockaders 19-10 in the second quarter, when Twarek scored eight of her total.

Lindsay Hoffert scored a game-high 16 points for Old Fort.

MILLER CITY 45, HOLGATE 31

HOLGATE - Melanie Schroe-der posted 16 points and 10 rebounds to lead Miller City (4-0).

Melanie Rieman and Lisa Brown ripped down nine rebounds apiece as the Wildcats outrebounded Holgate 52-11.

Cassie Giesige scored 15 points for the Tigers (3-1) on five 3-pointers.

PORT CLINTON 51, PERKINS 46

PORT CLINTON - Paula Wargo and Kelly Logsdon scored 13 apiece to lead Port Clinton in a Sandusky Bay Conference opener. Cierra Bravard scored 25 off the bench for Perkins.
