Southview set high expectations for the girls basketball season.

So far, the Cougars have played well enough to remain undefeated through 10 games.

The fast start has propelled Southview, which finished 17-4 a year ago, to the top in Division I in the The Blade's first girls basketball poll of the season.

Waite (8-1) ranks second and is one of three City League teams to earn a spot.

Defending Division I poll champ Northview (8-2), which suffered a loss earlier in the season to Southview, ranks third. Scott (7-3) and Central Catholic (6-5) complete the Division I rankings, respectively.

In Division II, Port Clinton (8-1) tops the list, followed by Ottawa-Glandorf (6-3), Eastwood (6-2), Napoleon (7-4) and Oak Harbor (6-4), respectively.

In Division III, undefeated Carey (8-0) sits on top. Archbold (9-1) ranks second, followed by Woodmore (7-2), Gibsonburg (6-2) and Ayersville (7-3).

In Division IV, New Riegel, like Southview, has been able to open the season winning its first 10 games.

Patrick Henry (9-0) ranks second, followed by Ottoville (8-0), Miller City (8-1) and Danbury (9-2), respectively.
