Girls basketball roundup: Northview, Waite set up showdown

Lisa Johnson scored six of her 16 points in the fourth quarter and was strong on the boards as Northview held off determined St. Ursula 45-40 in a Division I girls sectional basketball tournament game at Central Catholic last night.

The Arrows' Allison Florian matched Johnson for game scoring honors with 16 points. Florian netted nine of her points in the second quarter, the only one in which the St. Ursula outscored the Wildcats. St. Ursula bows out at 11-10.

Riana Miller scored 11 points as Northview moved to 19-3 for the season.

Northview advances to a district tournament semifinal game against Waite Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Central.

WAITE 57, WHITMER 45

Whitmer was young and inexperienced, but the Panthers kept coming at the Indians and stayed in the game until Waite pulled away on free throws at the end of the Division I game at Central.

Tatyana McNeal, Anedria Allen and Shareese Ulis led the Indians (18-3) with 15, 12 and 10 points, respectively. Ulis was held to three points until the fourth quarter, when she asserted herself to help Waite to an 18-12 margin.

Rachel Garverick and Katie Lord paced the Panthers (7-14) with 11 points apiece.

FINDLAY 80, SPRINGFIELD 18

BOWLING GREEN - Carlee Roethlisberger had 40 points and seven steals for Findlay (18-3). She was 12-for-16 on 2-pointers, 4-for-8 on 3-pointers and 4-for-6 from the free throw line.

Alexis Simpson led Springfield (7-14) with six points.

ANTHONY WAYNE 47, PERRYSBURG 45

BOWLING GREEN - Allison Papenfuss scored 15 points to lead the Generals to the victory in a matchup of Northern Lakes League opponents.

Ashley Parrish led the Yellow Jackets with 10 points.

LIMA BATH 76, BOWLING GREEN 22

FINDLAY - Amy Simindinger had 24 points for Bath, which outscored the Bobcats 23-0 in the second quarter. Jessica Vorst added 15 points for Bath (16-5).

Kelsie Herrera led Bowling Green (2-19) with 10 points.

PORT CLINTON 45, OAK HARBOR 40

OLD FORT - Kelly Logsdon had 13 points for Port Clinton, which sealed the victory by hitting five of six free throw attempts in the fourth quarter.

The Redskins improved to 16-5.

Danielle Zurvalee had 16 points for Oak Harbor (13-9).

OTTAWA-GLANDORF 63, EASTWOOD 47

FINDLAY - Mandy White had 16 points and Haley Ducey 12 for Ottawa-Glandorf (17-5).

Kim Young had 20 points for Eastwood, which finishes 18-3.

Ottawa-Glandorf led 39-35 after three quarters, but outscored the Eagles 24-12 in the fourth quarter.

MAUMEE 37, NAPOLEON 30

SWANTON - Lindsay Diegel scored 16 points and Bridgett Kolbow 13 as Maumee made a 15-5 second-quarter advantage stand up.

Kelsey Rolander led Napoleon with 14 points.

DEFIANCE 52, BRYAN 42

SWANTON - Ashley Jackson pumped in 22 points and DeeDee Hillman 11 for Defiance.

Taryn Armbruster tallied 14 for Bryan.

CLYDE 73, FOSTORIA 39

NEW RIEGEL - Katie Stein had 20 points for Clyde.

Jade Boff led Fostoria with 12 points.

GENOA 83, GIBSONBURG 61

At Northwood, Abbey Kontak, Simone Eli and Brittany Darling combined for 62 points for Genoa (13-8), which pulled away in the second half after leading 41-38 at intermission.

Kontak had 25 points, Eli 19 and Darling 18.

Ann Clark had 17 points and Lindsay Hill 15 for Gibsonburg (9-13).

ROSSFORD 42, WOODMORE 30

Rossford got 13 points from Amanda Miller and 12 from Crystal Sloan in a game played at Northwood.

Sarah Hernandez led Woodmore with seven points.

SWANTON 38, TINORA 20

LIBERTY CENTER - Abby LaVigne had 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists as the Bulldogs (165) beat the Rams (12-10).

Swanton's full-court pressure defense was instrumental in producing a 28-13 difference in turnovers, and 17 of those came in the second half as the Bulldogs pulled away after leading only 10-9 at halftime.

Tiffany Willson added 11 points for Swanton.

ARCHBOLD 50, EVERGREEN 32

LIBERTY CENTER - Molly Grime had 14 points and Lex Kennedy 13 for Archbold (17-5).

Taylor Langenderfer led Evergreen (12-9) with 17 points.

ELMWOOD 54, LIBERTY-BENTON 47

FINDLAY - Brooke Morgart had 22 points and Angie Alesch added 13 for Elmwood, which outscored Liberty-Benton 28-18 in the second half.

Chelsey Kloepfer had 21 points and Rachel Sterling 19 for Liberty-Benton.

Elmwood outrebounded the Eagles 28-14.

TOLEDO CHRISTIAN 60, MAUMEE VALLEY 42

Jacki Emmenecher had 28 points and Emily Cellier added 13 as the Eagles (14-7) won in a game played at Southview.

Alexis Holman had 23 points for Maumee Valley, which finishes 7-14.

OTTAWA HILLS 53, NORTHWOOD 39

Megan Jamieson led the Green Bears (16-6) with 18 points at Southview.

Laryn Ziegler had 17 points and Brittany Bogart 10 for Northwood.

HOPEWELL-LOUDON 52, ST. WENDELIN 40

FOSTORIA - Kim Hohman contributed 20 points and 17 rebounds and Carrie and Courtney Ritzler added 11 each for the Chieftains (18-3), who outscored St. Wendelin 31-22 in the second half and posted a 41-19 edge in rebounding.

Francena Tate paced the Mohawks with 18 points.

OTTAWA - Jenna Inselmann had 17 points, Alison Meyer 13 and Danielle Collins 12 for Patrick Henry.

Lindsay Westbeld led Kalida with 11 points.

MILLER CITY 32, LEIPSIC 20

OTTAWA - Melanie Schroeder scored 14 points for the Wildcats, who led 16-9 at the half.

Maegan Selhorst tallied seven for Leipsic, which turned the ball over 23 times.
